Main Project Features:
The port of Manakara is the main port in the Vatovavy Fitovinany region. Managed by the Port, Maritime and River Agency (APMF), it also serves the surrounding areas of Atsimo-Atsinanana, Amoron'i Mania and Matsiatra Ambony.
The port is located at the end of the railway line between Manakara and Fianarantsoa and allowed the supply of manufactured goods to these regions. It was the gateway for the importation of various goods and hydrocarbons for the Vatovavy Fitovinany region.
Activities Performed:
Jade Advisory has prepared a PPP prefeasibility study of the project. The analysis in the pre-feasibility study was not limited to port infrastructure but also focused on support infrastructure, in particular the Fianarantsoa rail line and the Pangalane Canal.
Jade Advisory proposed an innovative PPP option for the project to aggregate the following three projects into a single project:

The Manakara Port Rehabilitation Project.

The rail line rehabilitation project.

The Pangalanes Canal Rehabilitation Project (Faranfangana-Mananjary).
